Tesla Electric Cars

Orange Aero has purchased two Telsa Model 3 cars which are fully electric.  These are the base model and at around £40,000 each they are not expensive.

If you have ever driven an electric vehicle you will know that they are very quiet and a relaxing drive but if you are so minded then the instant torque and acceleration is astonishing.

The best bit is that as a company car the benefit-in-kind is 0% from April 2020 (currently 16%).

So for you high rollers your personal tax for the exclusive use of this vehicle is £0 this year and £200 for 2021.  That’s it.  You can even charge it at work.

The car packs a fair bit of technology as standard including adaptive cruise control and lane assist.  The eight cameras are also utilised for sentry mode to record anyone too near the vehicle and the car constantly recording your journey.  If you push the horn it saves the last 10 minutes of camera footage.  Turning on the heated seat and cabin heater from your phone as you have your breakfast is just great.

Software updates arrive every few weeks for all manner of things.  One of the most recent was to increase the charging rate and also pre-heat the battery on the way to a supercharger station so your charging stop is even shorter.

At home from a 13A plug it charges overnight at about 10 miles/hour.  A home Tesla wall box charges at  33 miles per hour and our charger at work is charging at 52 miles per hour.  The current 125KW supercharger will charge at 500 miles per hour and the new V3 chargers with liquid cooled cables will charge at 1000 miles per hour.  So in reality it’s a 10 minute stop at a V3 supercharger station to get a full charge for this base model.  The range is given as 240 miles but in reality its nearer 190 miles.

Orange Aero first dabbled in EV technology with a Smart Car in 2007. In those days the range was given as 50 miles, however in reality it was more like 25 miles, which was not at all practical.  How things have changed.

Orange Aero has fitted all company engine stands with a state of the art tracking system.

These rugged but compact tracking systems are certified to operate in numerous countries and in any environment, allowing us to keep a close eye on the stands, no matter where they are in the world.

Orange Aero installs Fountain of Youth!

Orange Aero has installed a hydrogenated water tap in the office.  Hydrogen water is simply pure water with extra hydrogen molecules added to it.

Hydrogen water is reported to possess antioxidant benefits. Molecular hydrogen fights free radicals in the body and protects cells from the effects of oxidative stress, which can help decrease inflammation, boost athletic performance, and even slow the aging process.

We’re all looking forward to being super healthy and looking younger!

Orange Aero joins the Design Museum Flagpole Club

Orange Aero is supporting the Design Museum to showcase the very best of contemporary design and architecture at its new home in Kensington.

Taking its name from the flagpoles which once flew the flags of each Commonwealth nation on Kensington High Street, the Flagpole Club has a maximum membership of just thirty two.

The Design Museum is a registered charity generating more than 95% of its operating budget from admissions, retail, charitable donations and sponsorship. Creating this new museum has been a hugely ambitious undertaking and one which would not be possible without the support of the Arts Council, Trusts and Foundations, companies and individuals helping the Charity create the most inspiring and engaging Design Museum in the world.

On arrival at the Design Museum is a set of 25 reeds, which pay a striking tribute to their flagpole predecessors. The contribution from Orange Aero is kindly acknowledged with the Company name on one of these reeds.

Innovation from Orange Aero

Orange Aero created an innovative USB stick that was to replicate a V2500A5 High Pressure Turbine Blade. This was a project that undertook a lot of time and thought. The whole process started with an initial concept of a bespoke gift that we could hand to our customers that was interesting.

A used V2500A5 HPT blade was 3D scanned to create a 3D printer model as a prototype. Once the authenticity was confirmed, further development followed to incorporate a 32GB USB Memory Drive which made the gift both useful and practical.

We’ve had some outstanding feedback from our customers which we have gratefully received.

NB. If you are an existing customer or supplier to Orange Aero, or indeed have some association in the business and would like one of the Orange Aero Turbine Blade Memory Sticks, please contact us.

Orange Aero supports BLOODHOUND Supersonic Car

Orange Aero has purchased a 1/10 scale model of the BLOODHOUND Supersonic Car as a way to support this exciting project.

BLOODHOUND is a jet and rocket powered car designed to break the current land speed record by reaching 1,000 mph. It is approximately 13.4m long, weighs 7.5 tonnes and the engines produce more than 135,000 horsepower – more than 6 times the power of all the Formula 1 cars on a starting grid put together!

The car is a mix of car and aircraft technology, with the front half being carbon fibre like a racing car and the back half being a metallic framework and panels like an aircraft.

The project is headed up by Richard Noble, and the supersonic car will be driven by RAF fighter pilot, Andy Green, who holds the current land speed record of 763 mph.

There is a BLOODHOUND Education Programme available to all pupils in primary and secondary schools, and to students in further and higher education. Nearly 4,000 schools registered in the first 18 months of the project. The team hope to inspire a new generation of engineers and to provide an iconic research and development programme with completely global access for students.
